Lead EDI Specialist

Overview of Position

Follow up of outstanding EDI tasks for all payers including making sure a resolution has been reached. This position is responsible for all Pathology clients in the Charleston and Florence Offices. Responsible for assisting in new client implementations, training new hires, existing employees and offshore vendors. Responsible for working closing with offshore to answer questions and maintain and update pathways. Responsible for assisting in creating or updating departmental policies and procedures as well as assisting all EDI staff when they need help.  Responsible for working EDI transactions including reconciling carrier submissions, edits and rejection reports and rejections found only on Clearinghouse websites. Will work closely with co-workers on complex issues to seek resolution as well as working with and assisting other departments with questions/issues that arise.   Ability to research and resolve complex issues, multi-task, make appropriate decisions on accounts to be worked to maximize reimbursement and assist with distributing and monitoring team projects as requested by management.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

  • Oversee workflow of the team to ensure productivity measures are met

  • Meet productivity standards as outlined in client metrics

  • Identify any issues or trends and bring them to the attention of management team

  • Work on special projects as assigned

  • Train others and Q/A work of team mates and offshore vendors as assigned

  • Other duties as assigned

What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • 5+ years’ work experience

  • Leadership skills or experience

  • Healthcare and / or insurance billing, processing or customer service preferred

  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Excel

  • Familiarity with health insurance web portals

  • Knowledge of the A/R process

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the A/R or EDI process

  • Organized

  • Detail Oriented

  • Ability to multi-task

  • Work well with others

  • Ability to fill in for Supervisor in their absence
