Revenue Cycle Consultant

Overview of Position

The Revenue Cycle Consultant will act as the liaison between operations and the sales team to plan and execute Change Healthcare’s strategic assessments activities across all physician revenue cycle outsourcing functions as it relates to the scope of specific prospective client opportunities.

This position will be responsible for helping to create the capability to intake, store, and analyze multiple different datasets from prospective clients, and to combine with context from operational interviews/observations of prospect staff, to understand baseline performance and create benefit estimates and financial models based on the injection of the most appropriate CHC physician revenue cycle outsourcing services and technology into current state operations.  This is not an existing capability within the company today and so this role will be required to help build the process/methodology.

This position will be responsible for innovating in respect to the methodology around the assessment process. Continually evaluating new and better ways to increase efficiency and accuracy while decreasing time and cost.  Furthermore, as new physician revenue cycle outsourcing service lines or technologies are brought to market, this position must work to include such solutions in their analyses.

This position, in collaboration with the Solution Architect, will be required to execute good judgement in the approach used at each unique physician client prospect and employ good decision making when determining appropriate solutioning based on the assessment results.  Most importantly, the performance levels that CHC will be accountable to throughout a revenue cycle outsourcing partnership will be a direct result of input from this role.  They will serve as the key operational voice and help to mitigate risk to CHC in the execution of a contract.

What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • 5+ years experience managing/leading revenue cycle operations and/or consulting experience; knowledge in at least one of the following areas: Business Office or Denials Management preferred or Patient Access, Health Information Management/Revenue Integrity/Coding/Clinical Documentation Improvement

What critical skills are needed for you to consider someone for this position?

  • Experience with general revenue cycle metrics, productivity standards and workflow

  • Demonstrated ability to understand root cause linkage of people/process/technology issues, impact those issues have on core performance metrics, and create mitigation strategies

  • Experience with change management and the implementation of technology or process improvements in healthcare revenue cycle management

  • Experience with Government (e.g., Medicaid, Medicare), commercial and self–pay payers

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Visio

  • Ability to condense large amounts of data into succinct, executive level presentations

  • Ability to manage and analyze large amounts of patient claims and operational data (SQL or similar)

  • Must have excellent communication and presentation skills and be able to develop and maintain client relationships.

  • Client facing experience with physicians, physician practice managers and/or hospital leadership

  • Experience presenting to and working with physicians and hospital administration

  • Self-aware; ability to handle challenging situations effectively with professionalism

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

  • Industry or consulting experience a plus

  • Outsourcing operations or assessment experience a plus

  • Project management experience a plus

  • Industry certifications (HFMA, MGMA, etc.) a plus

  • EDUCATION:  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Revenue Cycle Management or Revenue Cycle Management Consulting; advanced degree a plus

  • 30% travel requirement
