Sr. Billing Analyst

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Billing Analyst is responsible for accurate and timely processing of customer invoices.  Close collaboration with other team members and a thorough understanding of customer contracts is required.

This position is responsible for participating in continual process improvement initiatives which will propel the team to greater efficiency with increased financial controls and reduced costs.  Accurate and timely posting of company revenue requires a high level of attention to detail as well as the ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.  This role will build partnerships and relationships, across the organization and externally, that lead to the highest levels of collaboration and effectiveness.  Key aspects of this role involve interpreting customer contracts and pricing, then translating this information into billing rules within various billing systems.  This role performs complex data analysis, manages multiple accounts simultaneously, and collaborates with teammates to balance workload and address priorities.

This role performs and supports Business to Business (B2B) corporate contract billing.  No medical billing experience is required nor is medical billing performed in this role.  Knowledge of interactions and relationships between entities within the U.S. healthcare system is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform a variety of analytical functions including the review and management of large data sets to ensure customer billing accuracy and comply with internal controls
  • Analyze customer contracts and execute accurate set up of billing rules within billing system(s)
  • Adhere to SOX and other internal controls & procedures
  • Lead and assist with continuous process improvement projects related to billing controls, quality & efficiency, and automation opportunities
  • Research and resolve complex billing issues utilizing analytical and reporting tools as well as collaborating with cross functional peers
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of all customer invoices

In addition to being the Primary Sr Billing Analyst for all Decision Analytics billing, the person in this role has several additional responsibilities supporting billing processes for multiple business units:

Uploading Monthly Billing Files to Oracle – Clinical Reviews Risk, Clinical Reviews HEDIS, Reimbursables- Clinical Reviews Risk, Reimbursables- Clinical Reviews HEDIS, HEDIS Quality Performance Reporting & Rate Reporting & Analytics Preparing all Clinical Reviews Risk Accruals & HEDIS CR Revenue Reversing Accrual Creating Centene Pivots for Clinical Reviews Risk Billing New Customer Creation in Oracle & Access Database Maintaining and Updating Customer Profiles in Oracle Merging all Monthly Uploads Files into Access & Excel File

JOB Qualifications:

  • BS in Accounting, Finance or Business
  • 5+ years successful financial/accounting experience; healthcare experience preferred, collections and/or accounts receivable experience is helpful
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with all levels within the company
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Access), with a proficiency in database management and pivot tables
  • Basic SQL query writing
  • Oracle experience preferred
  • Critical thinking skills to understand unique process exceptions and develop appropriate resolutions
  • High level of attention to detail and organizational skills required
