Overview of Position

This Counsel is one of the primary contacts for the Procurement/Sourcing Team.  A key aspect of the role is supporting the enterprise-wide Procurement/Sourcing function and the Senior Counsel, Procurement to improve existing processes for procurement and sourcing to drive best practices in supplier relationships. Success in the role will be measured by the ability of the Counsel to deliver first class supply contracts and legal advice relating to procurement matters in a collaborative, professional and timely manner. 

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

  • Managing legal matters pertaining to enterprise-wide and business unit specific procurement functions, including providing counsel to the procurement team and business owners on complex transactions, vendor relationships, outsourcing relationships, partnership arrangements, intellectual property rights, and HIPAA privacy and security issues
  • Drafting, negotiating and advising on a range of procurement arrangements (including technology, outsourcing, services, HR, facilities, and marketing relationships) and supporting the procurement team secure highly favorable contracts with suppliers
  • Working closely with the procurement team to deliver effective support and advice as a key team member in RFP and competitive bid processes
  • Coordinating with functions within the Company to obtain the necessary information, buy-in and approvals for complex transactions
  • Working with the Senior Counsel, Procurement to improve practice and procedures and to ensure completion of contracts in a timely manner
  • Helping to manage disputes and claims (pre-litigation) with vendor and suppliers, and support the Corporate Functions Team with litigation management

What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • Juris Doctor Degree from an ABA accredited law school with excellent academic credentials; admission to practice in good standing as a member of a jurisdiction is required
  • 1-3 years of experience providing legal counsel to clients, including 1 year at the Company, or 1-3 years at another company, a not-for-profit, law firm or government agency after graduation from law school.
  • 1-3 years of significant transactional experience, preferably in an in-house environment procurement support experience including but not limited to direct and indirect procurement, IT procurement, supplier relationship management, supplier onboarding, sales activities, contractual disputes, and other matters from a commercial perspective

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

  • Expertise at drafting complex transactional documents, vendor, procurement and technology license agreements
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA privacy and security related issues, regulatory matters, risk management, and contract management
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with an ability to provide sound, clear legal advice to clients and advance knowledge of the law
  • Aptitude to work well with larger team on seeking efficiencies for legal support
  • Ability to manage simultaneous projects in an efficient and timely manner

How much should I expect to travel?

  • Employees in roles that require travel will need to be able to qualify for a company credit card or be able to use their own personal credit card for travel expenses and submit for reimbursement.
  • You will be required to travel 5% or less.
  • You can be based in Atlanta/Alpharetta, GA or Remote/Virtual.
